as cockpit is lifted on new stand

Work continues on Vulcan XL388  at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum as the cockpit is lifted onto a new cradle.

Our congratulations to thr local volunteers of thr Vulcan to thr Sky Trust and thr SYAM team on reaching another milestone.

The cockpit of XL388 is pulled out of her protective cover to allow crane access.

Lifting straps are prepared ready to take the strain.

Slowly, the load comes off the cradle and onto the crane and lorry.

Suspended in mid-air, lifting up a little more now to allow for the higher support cradle.

Slowly wheeling in the new cradle and checking position....

...before lowering down and securing on the rear bulkhead to prevent any rolling movement.

The cockpit pushed back into position under her protectve cover - ready for more work to begin.
