I've got a Wife and 4 kids, she doesn't know about the Vulcan, which makes it difficult to explain when all these 'free' Vulcan T-shirts keep coming through the letterbox...

Yes, I have that problem but slightly different. Made redundant just over 2 years ago and existing on company pension and small RAF pension (12 years). I keep telling my wife that 'we can't afford this or that' and she asked me how come a second Xh558 polo shirt has appeared since I went to Waddington , and when did I refuel the Vulcan etc......
She's going to have a fit when I tell her I need a 200+ pound exhaust system for the 1989 GSX750F that I'm renovating!!!!!!

Don't worry, tell her the collector box on a Honda RVF400 is over a grand ex-vat.... lol

Anyway, back to topic.... 'we' turned down a free ad in the NotW on account of the scandal that ended up with the paper's closure, yet today saw a full page article in The Sun, which is a newspaper that on er, paper, is basically the weekday version. I know an article isn't an advert, and in my opinion it's a good article and I have no issue with it being in the paper (nor would I have objected to a NotW ad for that matter), however I'm a little intrigued as to what the perceived difference is between the two Murdoch owned papers is/was?

My thoughts exactly.... One and the same in my book. We were clearly being slated for even considering the ad so were effectively forced to withdraw it, but barely a peep about the article in The Sun. Strange innit?

Would you have said the same about the article appearing in the Times?

Again same thing. Like speedy I've not got a problem with the article, but find it strange there was such a fuss about the NOTW, but nothing about The Sun.

And I take it those who did complain also won't watch any films/series made by 20th Century Fox / Blue Sky Studios , watch Sky / Fox on cable/satellite , or buy books published by Harper Collins , as all of these are either 100% owned by Murdoch { in the guise on News Intl. /News Corp. } or he has a majority shareholding in them.
Not forgetting Dow Jones , of course !

A newspaper that seems so far to have escaped the NotW scandal despite allegedly being involved in similar dodgy practices, you mean?

I detest the Sun as much (if not even more so) than the NOTW, basically down to the 'article' it produce about the Hillsborough disaster.
