It's in today's e-newsletter, quoted below (raffle applies to RIAT only afaik):

Just collect a free Raffle ticket from our stage area within the Village to enter our free prize draw - have your chance of winning three fabulous prizes:

1. A Ground Crew 'shadow' experience for two people at Doncaster or UK air show.
2. A Wing Walking experience with the Brietling Wing Walkers display team
- this prize kindly donated by Brietling Wing Walkers & Planes TV
3. A Canvas print of XH558.

In addition, we will also be running a £1 Prize Raffle over the whole weekend with 5 Stunning prizes available.

Look out for more details on RIAT in Friday's main edition of our e-newsletter.

Yes, it was actually the second part of a two part tweet.... so now re-issued to make more sense on the Home Page.

For those who like clarification: you can view the history of the tweet service here: http://twitter.com/#!/xh558 (Link off bottom right of Home Page)

I'm going on Sunday.

I suppose all I need to do is loop round loads of times and pick up a ticket for all I know :-)

I think that might be considered cheating.... ;-)

I could understand it the last time we did a free raffle - at Waddington last year when the Village was down by where 558 wasn't, and it was a good way to draw people down to the Village who might otherwise have bypassed us.

I'm not sure what the advantage of a free raffle is this time. Surely people could be persuaded (especially by me :D ) to part with £1 for those prizes. What's the benefit for 558? Can someone in the know please explain.......

There is a good reason that will be obvious when you are standing outside the Village and other opportunities to gain chances of a similar experience will come later in the year - offered by Raffle or Auction.

There will also be a £1 Raffle with 5 other nice prizes to win.

Ian

I won't be standing outside the Village (I'm on the Club stand) and neither will lots of people here who aren't even going, so can you just answer the question please :D

Nope. If you come to the Club stand you'll have as much money extracted from you as legally possible :D

Actually i believe some of our methods could be described as slightly ilegal, fairly sure the methods used on Cluney are known as extortion.

I suspect the free raffle is to try and extra attention from what I suspect is a RIAT stall right next door - if there is one right next door. But that's just a guess.

I spent a lot of time on the 'Free Raffle' desk at RIAT and it was amazing to watch people getting a single, £1.00, ticket from the table in front of me and then coming over to me and getting a single free ticket and putting anything from £1 to £20 in the donation bucket! People were very generous and there was not a single disgruntled, grumpy, rude, person among the thousands that visited us.
I don't know if the names are being published in the next newsletter but hope they are, the person that won the wing walking may be thrilled but it tended to be the ladies that wanted that one, the blokes wanted the crew day experience and the children wanted the canvas print for their bedrooms.
Great day with great people.

Maybe now RIAT's over, someone could answer my question about the free raffle?
