Just played the video and have to agree with Eddie. That is just superb.

Just one question......Is there an iPad version yet and, if not, can this one be updated please?

Doesn't it work on an Ipad ?

It works on my Ipod.

I was going to keep this quiet for a while longer to surprise you, but as Merrick has put it on his Twitter feed that he is a sixth form student, he'll be too modest to actually say himself, so I will disclose - he is just 17 years old! and a really bright lad.

The whole element of helping us just shows how XH558 can inspire the young talent of today to help build our future.

In my dealings with him over the last 5 months or so, I can really say how 'professional' he is and a real credit to his family and to the younger generation, who sadly got quite a bad press a few weeks ago with all the troubles. It gives me faith that there is hope in this country to be good again - particularly in the emerging sciences and latest technological fields.

To cut a long story short, because of his age, his mother is the registered developer with Apple and she will receive the income from the App, then GIFT AID it as a donation, meaning we will then get something like 90% from every £1.99. (Apple do take a slice of course).

I would like to publicly thank Merrick for all his time and effort in supporting XH558 like this, because we would simply not have the budget to pay development companies and it's an excellent way for him to use the experience and knowledge, to what I expect, will be excellent qualifications.

Three cheers for Merrick!

Good luck for the future....

Regards,
Ian

Thanks for posting that Ian. It gives one faith in our young people when you read things like that.

Hooray for Merrick and many thanks for your efforts.

Now can we have the iPad version double quick please.

Yes, it will probably work OK on the iPad but, as the app has been developed for the small screen on a phone, the resolution will be low.
One of the great things about the iPad for this sort of thing is the superb quality of the pictures and video's it can reproduce.
So, do I hold on a bit longer for the full res version plus the Android one for my phone when that is available?

Hell, with most of the £1.99 going to our aeroplane I might just buy it now and then update later. :o :D

Thanks Ian! Much appreciated :D Thanks for all the support as well guys!

The current app will work on iPad, but is not optimised as said above for the higher res screen of the iPad. Native iPad version is almost complete, but will have to get verified by Apple, should be available within the next 2 weeks as an update to the existing application as version 1.2. Additional features added as well. Android will be along soon :)

I have just downloaded it to my iPad and have to say it is great. There does though, seem to be a bit of grit in the air around here today. ;)

Doubling up the size to almost fill the iPad screen means there is some pixelation but I can live with that until an update comes along. The photos seem to be hi res and reproduce OK but the vids are not quite as sharp as we are used to. Go back down to iPhone size and everything is fine.

For £1.99 this is a 'must have' for every '558 fan with a suitable smart phone or tablet.
Highly recommended!

Been quite happy with my little slide Samsung SGH-J700i mobile phone but recently my daughter-in-law changed her contract and had a cheaper phone so gave me her iPhone to use.
Been playing with it for a week and felt ready for the XH558 App. Extremely easy to purchase, download and load onto the iPhone and what a terrific application. Interesting stuff to read, and you can read it rather than the tiny characters on some sites where you have to enlarge it and scroll side to side to read.
Thanks for the app, I'll be looking forward to the new Tracker Upgrade.
