New Newsletters will shortly be going out. The first, will be to all those who have signed the Birthday Card.

Early next week, regular updates will be sent out to all those for whom we hold email contact details.

Please ensure you accept vulcannews@vulcantothesky.org within your email software.

To receive these Newsletters, you must be subscribed to our master database. If you do not receive any over the next week, please re-establish contact here: http://www.vulcantothesky.org/register.html as the databases will be refreshed every week to clean duplicates and add in new.

A copy of the first email newsletter can be seen here: http://www.vulcantothesky.org/newsletter

We hope you like them and that you will look forward to regular updates delivered directly to you!

Minor comment on the newsletter. "Next planned public display" listed as Coventry. Splitting hairs, but how many people will think that it means just more than on general display to the public rather than a flying display as such? Or will some nice kind pilot be doing a little more than taking off??

As it's only a fly in maybe a flypast or two but not a full display.

Regarding the newsletter, I like it. As something that is going out en masse it needs to look slick and professional and it does that nicely.

It projects the right image imo.

Yes - newsletter looks the business, no argument there. Just wondering if 'appearance' would be slighty more appropriate than 'display'. Absolutely no crticism otherwise... :-)

For some unknown reason we haven't had an e-mail newsletter even though we must be on the data base for all manner of reasons.....birthday card, donations, club members, volunteers etc.
So have just signed up again.........what a bally caper. I almost gave up and wonder just how many have given up trying.
First I had to use a password, why?
Then it refused my password, it said the password must be between 6 & 20 characters. My original was 6 but after trying four times I gave up and used a longer one.
Four times it said that I hadn't input the silly random characters correctly.
Eventually it seemed happy and finally agreed to register me.
Had I just been a casual observer, who are just the people we are trying to attract, I think I would have given up and gone away.
I might not be the sharpest knife in the block when it comes to puters put I would like to think that a simple registration is not beyond my capabilities.
Why does everything have to be so damned complicated.

Landyman.
I used to be retired then I found a Vulcan.
My travel blog - http://motorhomemoments.wordpress.com (Now with added Vulcan for even better value)

As for Landyman, no Newsletter for me either. I re-registered yesterday just in case, but still not received anything. Whether there have been any recent E-mailed communications I don't know, but the last thing I received was "South Coast Washout" from Dr. Bob on 29th August :?:

I've done some research and this is the situation.

When you register, the details you enter are stored in a database on this site.

However, the mail-house that sends out the emails works from their own, completely separate 'master' database (combining addresses from various sources - not just from here).

So, the newly entered details are periodically taken from the database here & handed on to the mail-house. They will then validate & check for duplicates, etc.

Overall, this introduces a delay which in some cases has been in the order of weeks...

I'm now trying to think up an automated (technological) solution to this because the lag (sometimes weeks) between registration & starting to receive emails is not going to help the forthcoming campaigns one little bit.
985 posts on last forum - so I get the 'hallowed 1000' for just 15 on this one (yippee!)

Surely the most obvious would be to have 'our' own list server?

Just received my news letter looks very professional and does the biz

after reading"Landymans" problems registering, I'm very grateful that I did not have to re register as I would certainly have given up, not being an IT geek just a silver surfer, thinking of passwords is like trying to find the chemical equation for long life
