Northern Britain Tour - 10th October
« on: October 09, 2015, 02:04:15 PM »
Hi

Does anyone know whether overflight permission from Manchester ATC is likely/unlikely on Saturday. I appreciate that Manchester is a busy commercial airport but I wondered whether this is likely to be a problem. In June, 558 was able to make an approach, low pass and climb out, presumably within the normal traffic pattern and I am assuming that this should be fairly easy to accommodate under normal operating conditions. Does anyone have any expert or, better still, insider knowledge ;-)

Knowing the odds of this happening again would make a big difference to my plans for tomorrow.

By the way, though I have been a fan of the Vulcan since my cadet days in the eighties (witnessed six taking off from the "caravan" near the main drag at Finningley) I have only just come across the forum. I'm sure this will still be a great place to visit even after 558 has settled into her, hopefully-not-too-peaceful retirement.

It'll do a similar flypast again. MAN Management gave the RVP permission to publicise it today and put it on their Facebook page.

I think the route publicised expects easterly winds so join circuit from Bucklow Hill direction.

Thanks JohnJosh43. Info much appreciated.

If landing from the Bucklow end is the flight likely to align with 05L or 05R at that time of day? Makes a big difference where to view from. Maybe the field near the crash gate at the Northern end of the River Bollin tunnel will give a fair chance of good views in either case.
