Sorry Bill, I'm on the wrong side of the country now.

I've been staying away as it seems some of my comments have not been well received by some people I have great respect for.

So they will let us know result of the application.

How long before the begging bowl comes out as I understand they have no interest whatsoever from any backers.

Reading between the lines of the link that Taff posted I think that the local authorities and education establishments like the idea of the "ETNA" project - but I think they just don't want the trust involved.

Reading the founding guardians magazine the impression I get is that is there is no plan to carry out the restoration of 163.  The new hangar has space for parties, events, meetings and a shop - but no space for workshops or any engineering.  The articles talk about volunteers carrying out the work - well good luck to them and well done but I wonder where this new group of engineering type volunteers is going to come from.

The only hope I see for 558 finding a roof over her head is for a single benefactor paying for it.  The airport will be happy for the hangar to be built but if the trust are not careful they will end up out on their ear again as soon as someone with money offers to take the space on.
Aviation Waffle / Re: No Scampton Airshow for 2018

I can't remember what the tickets were selling for but I know they were more than Waddington was, and considering they advertised the fact that the air show would be smaller I'm not surprised they didn't sell as many as they thought they might.

I wonder if manpower made a difference to the expenditure too. They used RAF Waddington man power for the Waddington show but there isn't that available at Scampton.

It is a shame as Lincolnshire is well known for it's aviation and in the year of 100th RAF anniversary it is a blow.

Crikey, Finnair on an overshoot from Heathrow just hammered over; the fastest aircraft over here since the Typhoons showing themselves on patrol for the Olympics. I think he was trying to avoid the thunderstorm that's on at the moment just west of us.
Sorry to say I don't remember you - but then after a stroke & a TIA, I don't remember anything these days. Anyone seen my beer?
Happy Christmas, one and all! :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

Ways To Raise Funding / Re: Comments on the new hangar plans!

I visited the new Bristol Aerospace museum on Thursday, it's in 2 parts with most of the exhibits in the old WW.1 hangars and Concorde in a brand new purpose built building which is excellent - that would act as a good 'blueprint' for the Trust to follow. I posted pics of it here:

or if you're not logged in my pics are in this Flickr album:

It's got plenty of viewing space at both ground and higher level with static exhibitions as well but fairly 'functional' construction. The quoted price for the whole museum is £19 million but I can't find a cost for the new building element as a comparison.
For the Trust to produce something similar that will be the hardest part -funding it.

LLA Members Day on Sunday has been cancelled today by the Flight due to adverse weather forecast meaning the aircraft have to be in the hanger so no space for anything else.
Announced on BBMF and LLA Facebook pages if further info needed.
