This could be you , the 2011 photo competition
« on: August 01, 2011, 10:23:35 PM »
Last year, Andy Brown won the photo competition with his photo of XH558 and the blades and on Saturday he was presented with the canvas by the aircrew for the Sunderland display as the culmination of a day with the ground crew at Doncaster:

The good news is that next time this could be you!
I will shortly be starting off this year's competition and I will be donating the first prize of a canvas print, which I will get signed by the crew and once again, thanks to Sam and subject to availability, the winner will have the chance to go to Finningley (sorry, Doncaster) for a day with the ground crew for a formal presentation.

I chatted with Andy on the way home and put our thoughts to Ian today about categories and this year they will be as follows:
1: Vulcan XH 558
2: any other aircraft
3: Ground crew
4: Vulcan village or other vulcan stands

and 5, different this year - photos of 558 taken on a compact camera, the idea of this is to open it up to as many people as possible without those that only have a compact camera being disadvantaged against those with 'all the gear'.

further details will follow soon but start sorting out those photos and remember there are several more opportunities to capture '558 at shows this year: http://www.vulcantothesky.org/appearances.html

Good luck and please support this fund raising competition, last year it raised about £800 so hopefully with more time to get those entries in we can reach four figures.

for those of you that didn't see it, this is last year's winner:

I spoke to Ian earlier re setting up the token system for this year's competition and it should be ready by the end of next week so make the most of this weekend's airshows to get some good entries. I'm off to Little Gransden on Sunday and I believe dunsfold should be pretty good as well ;)
