My 50D suddenly developed an issue last time in wales, I'd spin the Wheel for the Shutter speed and it'd spin without gripping.
I did some research and found an article and it suggests using Superglue ( HERE
) ... however I thought this was a bit harsh (bad dreams of gluing the damn thing to the body) and a couple of others in the Comments had the same thoughts. Someone suggested Rubbing Alcohol so I read a bit more into it.
Needless to say I picked up some Isopropyl Alcohol ( only 70% proof but not drinkable :-( ) and after pulling the Wheel out a bit and dabbing some on the Main Dial, I spun it a few times and it slipped completely , now I'm thinking I've messed up Big Time but after a couple of minutes the Alcohol and grease/gunk it's "eaten" had evaporated and it's perfect !!
I know this ain't the normal thread for in here but if this helps someone else save £179 from Canon to replace the Dial or whatever from Lehmans .. I've done some good!
