Title: FORUM SOFTWARE
Post by: XH558 on August 24, 2013, 08:23:45 AM
Some of you may have noticed the new forum software this morning, its not quite ready yet as not all the messages copied over so we reverted back to this software.

As some of you may know we have been attacked a number of times over the past months from mainly Russian ip's what the Vulcan Bomber could possibly ever have done to upset Russia is a mystery    but hey have a go every now and then.

During the last week Jane Thomas and I have had a constant battle against them and the spam, that has only been the visible part of the issue, they have also been using denial of service attacks, well last night they did a blinder and stopped all access to the web server, even we couldn't get on by our methods.

We have moved the whole web site to a new server that has much higher bandwidth and more security, this is already completed.

During the weekend we will be implementing the new forum software that has far greater security and better new user registration checking, it also offers loads of new toys and whistles (i know you all like them)

Anyway sorry for the downtime last night.

What's happened to the volunteer area that used to be at the bottom of the forum listing?
I've reset myself back to Club Member.
Has someone else got to do something?

Don't like the mobile version. Can't access the full site from the iPad it doesn't give you the option so stuck with a very limited mobile view. Can we change and make the mobile view optional and selectable please.

Same here, please change or alter phone version ! Most sites have it as an option, that way you can pick what works best. Thanks !!

I have mentioned about not being able to access the full site from mobile devices to Paul. Hopefully there is a solution for it.  Think the mobile version is ok, but it does have a few limitations.

Having to use an alternative browser with selectable user agent to gain access. Please please make mobile browser selection a selectable choice.

One of the few limitations is that it's unusable from Ipad. I tend to live on the "Recent Posts" link (Active Posts on the old forum). It ain't there now so you have to trawl all over the place - or not ......

There is one.  Click on the menu thingy (top right & bottom left) and you'll find 'Recent Posts' at the bottom of the menu.

Can't delete PM.s from mobile site.....

So What?

I could not delete pm's from the old forum!

I can't even read my pm's now  >:(

Quite annoying really - apparently I have 77 pages of messages I can't read.

If anyone has sent me a pm in the last couple of weeks - I'm not ignoring you (I just can't see you)

That's not good Sam..... Sure the board admin can sort that one out easily enough.
A real nuisance having to use an alternative browser just for this site though.

Pages: 1 ... 75 76 [77]

The number 77 in brackets is in bold (to let me know there are new messages in the inbox?) but does not make any sort of link.

I've tried pressing all the buttons but they just give the same page  :(

What about pressing 76 & 75 (etc)?  I have [40] and that has no link (because it's the current page).
