Engineering / Re: Extraordinary General Meeting Needed?
« on: January 20, 2017, 03:22:45 PM »
For clarity, we Founding Guardians are not Members of the Trust and so do not have the ability to call an EGM of the Trust. This legal position is clarified within the Annual Accounts of the Trust, where it is expressly stated 'The Trustees are the only Members of the Trust'.

However, that does not stop a letter being sent to the Board of Trustees expressing concerns.

I would also highlight that the CEO role is being reduced to a 'part-time' position going forward as stated in the announcement.

Welcome to every single one of you - thank you for being part of the forum and XH558's swansong season on the display circuit!  :)

Have you no heart? Just remember that the Vulcan & the Lancaster were designed by the same man & only about 10 years apart. Flying together  they give the opportunity to see just how much progress was made in that brief time.

Plenty of heart - was there at Waddo in 2008 and it was a fantastic sight. If it was to happen again then great, but there are other formations I'd rather see.

Must admit that the thought of two Lancs and '558 in a loose formation doesn't really do anything for me. I prefer to see '558 with her contemporaries - hoping for a Canberra formation at some stage this year.

However, I'd love to see the two Lancs with Sally B - three classic WW2 'heavies' together.

Aviation Waffle / Re: Cardington "takes to the air" again!

Cardington's hangars are listed buildings and the second of them is currently receiving the same renovation works as the first one did a few years ago.

The Building Research Establishment has been using one for materials testing for some years, particularly for the certification of materials for use in high-rise structures. Whilst their aviation use may have been patchy, they've been gamefully employed!

Must work on some more questions for our next visit to Jet Age Museum David  ;)

Are we going 22nd or 23rd Mar, Mrs A?

Lee and I are already planning Q's...  :D

Thanks for sharing those - not sure if it was much warmer, given how mild the winter's been, but definitely drier!!

Yep - we had some excellent times at Mad March Hare! Heard from Iggy and Mrs Iggy on New Year's Eve and Cluny's still chasing aircraft around the UK! Last time I saw Roger though was at a show - must be a couple of years ago now. Funny you should post this as I was thinking about him and wondering how he was doing only a few days go...

Life seemed simpler back then - in pre Jessica days!  ;D

Engineering / Re: TFR or H2S?

Never thought of looking in there, but I think you mean about whether 558 had the TFR fitted. I didn't realise some had it fitted and then removed.

Thanks for the response, very helpful.

The TFR was removed from XH558 when she was converted to maritime reconnaissance spec. IIRC.

Oooo never heard of semi-complex I thought it was simple, intermediate or complex.

I was told verbally by one of the guys at RIAT that she was 'semi-complex', but the recent GAR article on the restoration confirms her as 'complex' in CAA terms.

Is the Canberra regarded as 'complex' by the CAA?

Looked into this a while back to reinforce my anorak...

From recollection, WK163, the B2/6 of Classic Air Force isn't. XH134, the PR9, is classed as semi-complex as she has powered flying controls.
