All well and good slagging off DanO', but it still doesn't answer the accusation regarding 'silicagate' though.

Do you really think there would be any explanation after all this time; speculation achieves nothing.

Sadly, the days of "Dan oh not again" are not past.

With the few of us left on this forum I actually doubted we'd get that comment.

The Royal Air Force has seventy plus strike aircraft, with over one hundred other strike aircraft being "available", so little imagination needed to assess the chances of achieving the numbers - the organization is another matter. There are over one hundred and fifty Hawks, then with transport and helicopters that gives us the possibility of "one hundred", and don't forget the Red Arrows can put up at least twelve.

Difficult to set it up; those in Lincolnshire may be aware of various formation flights happening even now.

It is aimed to have one hundred aircraft in a flypast for a Royal Review over London on Tuesday the 10th July. the drawback with those sort of formations is the height and therefore sillouhettes of the aircraft. I shall already be ensconced in the area of RIAT so will miss that.

Interesting comments and input from some. Sad to see the digs and jibes. Good to know that you are doing your best Smiler, thanks.

New members are always welcome, but if one was to browse the earlier postings, going way back, one would understand the quality of the Club and forum in the past. There is no need to enter the forum and commence attacking, but a chance to make constructive postings or ask questions.

XH558 is an example of a fantastic design, built for a purpose, and tested. The support for it has been fantastic, through an amazing time, and with an outstanding result in the return to a successful period of flight. The end of that period has led to a stalling of purpose whilst awaiting a satisfactory security of future location and support. We all hope that that future will provide a location which, along with the original aim of providing "education", will honour those who ensured the security of the life we live.

Sadly Paul, the final outcome of this was clear from day one. The naysayers will be happy to add their comments as to the future. Very sad for the family and friends that this has been so prolonged and they will still have about another year of it.

Should anybody pop in, whilst staying at my daugher's in Cinderford, yesterday Monday, 1400 hours, heard a fairly low jet engine, and emerging from the clouds was a Hawker Hunter, was I pleased?

Apparently, according to Funtera, it belonged to the Dutch Hawker Hunter Foundation, registration G-KAXF. It came in from Holland but I couldn't find where it landed.

An immense task for those involved, both the search and the trauma.

Interesting drone over the rain clouds - Antonov AN26 of Vulkan Air on it's way from Birmingham to Gdansk at 17000 feet, not seen but heard as one could get eye damage looking up into this lot.

Crikey, Finnair on an overshoot from Heathrow just hammered over; the fastest aircraft over here since the Typhoons showing themselves on patrol for the Olympics. I think he was trying to avoid the thunderstorm that's on at the moment just west of us.
