Aviation Waffle / Re: MH370 Search to restart

I saw rumours of this happening a few weeks ago. No find no fee! either confident of success or a make or  break bet?

Good luck to them, I will be following the search.

Aviation Waffle / Re: No Scampton Airshow for 2018

I can't remember what the tickets were selling for but I know they were more than Waddington was, and considering they advertised the fact that the air show would be smaller I'm not surprised they didn't sell as many as they thought they might.

I wonder if manpower made a difference to the expenditure too. They used RAF Waddington man power for the Waddington show but there isn't that available at Scampton.

It is a shame as Lincolnshire is well known for it's aviation and in the year of 100th RAF anniversary it is a blow.

Andy it's on the yellow bar under the page title. Tho' from what I can see it's for Guardians only, I can't find any info about becoming a Guardian (and why it's under the shopping section I have no idea).

Other than wanting direct control of the finances I can't think why they wanted to challenge the success of the Club. It had bailed them out many times.

Does anyone know on average what the contribution from the Club was per annum?

Ways To Raise Funding / Re: Funding the new hangar - how?

Ermmm.... wasn't it mentioned earlier in the year that they had someone lined up for funding the new Hangar, now they say they are in talks with prospective investors or is my memory playing tricks on me?

As with all press releases it appears to be a game of smoke and mirrors.

I distinctly remember being told that the original equipment would go back in 558, tho' I knew it couldn't happen because miles of cabling was removed and cut up. However I'm sure it was meant cosmetically, such as cockpit instruments.

The closing of the A15 to direct traffic to the parking for the airshow shouldn't have caused a problem, they have been doing it for years for the Lincolnshire show half a mile down the road. So I assume the organisers would have spoken to someone in the know before hand.  ???

It used to happen when I worked at Scampton in the 90s before it closed. As far as getting to work was concerned it was fine but I guess an annoyance for those who live on base and want to go out during the day.

Nope not going. Apparently the traffic control is chaos sending people the wrong way, according to other fora.

I'm not sure how they get 9 (did they take on an extra one in the last year for some reason?) and the only full time one that I was aware also doubled as Ops Manager. I know a couple use to do talks etc even after 558 stopped flying but were never full time as far as I am aware.

Is it just me that doesn't like the thought of plastering 558 with names on the outside?

The bomb bay was fair enough, out of sight most of the time but available when visited. Under the wings? whilst she will no longer flying it just appears to be exploitation to me.

I don't think the Trust has ever had many more than 8 Trustees at one time have they?

There won't be many comments left then from what I reading a while ago.

No Mike, sorry. DT isn't a guide there anymore. I would thin something will come to light soon.

They also have a shot of VeRA on the website with a caption saying..... 'BBMF Lancaster one of only 2 airworthy in the world'.

I bet they thought the Blenheim they showed was a Lancaster.

It does say a 3rd party company is funding them under licence and giving a donation for each one sold....

but you do get a free mini rugby ball so must be a bargain!
