Former Aircrew / RIP Colston Nichols (ex 617 Sqn)
« on: October 11, 2015, 06:12:10 PM »
It is sad to announce that Colston Nichols (ex 617 Sqn qnd Team Bournemouth member) finally lost his battle with cancer.

Cols was part of our team at fundraising events over the last few years. He was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him. His last wish was to see 558 fly... we managed to do that for him at Yeovilton this year.

Sadly - he was too ill to see her final display at the Bournemouth Air festival a few weeks later (despite all our attempts to get him there).

RIP and blue skies good Sir. It was a honour to know you. Our deepest condolences go out to his family at this sad time. We have all lost a very true friend.

We will be attending his funeral in due course as friends and on behalf of VTTS Club.

Various clips have been released of in flight/display footage from the bomb aimer window recently, and from past flights.

Have all displays undertaken this year been filmed from that vantage point ? If so... will we get to see them ?

Engineering / A HUGE thanks to the Engineers
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:56:04 PM »
As the 2012 airshow season draws to a close... I think it fit to say a huge thanks to Taff and his mottly crew for giving us a serviceable aircraft throughout this years season .

Despite the major engine set back - they worked thier butts off to give 558 back to us, and the public - for our enjoyment this year.

Without the ground crew doing what they do best... the aircrew would have no aircraft to display.

Well done guys - you are appreciated by us all  :D

(The pilots did good too...... )

The money and time that went into it (and the human cost) must have been absolutely devasting to all involved.
