Hello friends, strangers and strange friends  ;)

Please forgive the intrusion but I hope this appeal will appeal (no pun intended) to many of you.

Since I gave up being fat, I have been running in races almost weekly (including my first half marathon in two weeks, eeeek) and it's very rare that I ask for sponsorship.

On 26th October I am running the 5 mile Poppy Run at Aldridge Airport in support of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal and hope I can use my slightly rusty Vulcanning skills to extract some funds from you towards this vital charity.

Thanks for looking

Aggy  :)

Hi all

I'm no longer a member of the Club so I don't frequent this board any more - in fact I can't post in most areas so thought I'd stick this in here!

Several of you were kind enough to sponsor me for today's 10k Race for Life in Sutton Park.

18 months ago I was so overweight that I was out of breath walking upstairs, and am pleased to say that, now 6 stone lighter, I completed the 10k today in a respectable 1hr 5 mins.

Thank you to everyone here who put their hands in their pockets to sponsor me. Thought I'd treat you to a picture of a red-faced me shortly after crossing the line!

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Ways To Raise Funding / Grapes for 558
« on: May 28, 2012, 07:52:55 PM »
558 is not well, so I propose we have a whip-round to buy her some grapes*.

I've texted a couple of quid into the pot; please can you all spare a quid or two as well?

*disclaimer - Vulcans do not eat grapes. If you own a Vulcan, please do not feed it grapes, refer to your vet for advice on feeding and neutering your Vulcan.

Ways To Raise Funding / Recycling bags for toner
« on: May 04, 2012, 11:54:26 AM »
A recent mailshot included pre-addressed plastic bags to post used toner cartridges in.

It said to include your name and address if you wanted more bags, so I included a letter on my company letterhead requsting more bags, but no sign of any. That was months ago, does anyone have contact details for this company? I have a mountain of cartridges....

Ways To Raise Funding / Clarification on text donations
« on: April 18, 2012, 02:34:33 PM »
On the "donate" page on the website, we're asked to send text donations in the following format for £5:
VULC12 £5

On the latest Newsbytes, it suggests the format VULC125

Do both of these get through OK, or is one incorrect?

Ways To Raise Funding / CLR question
« on: March 07, 2012, 02:47:22 PM »
Not sure who to ask so hope someone can help.

I have bought a CLR package in memory of Clarkson-Puss who sadly passed away on Sunday aged just 4 years old  :(

In the personalised message box, I asked for "In loving memory - Clarkson Meers" but it did say that messages would not be allowed. WIll I get away with this or will only his name be shown?

Ways To Raise Funding / Excellent new sales tactic for charities
« on: January 18, 2012, 01:17:51 PM »
The West Midlands Air Ambulance charity just used two extremely good looking men to extract money from me (although they did get bored to death about '558 for their trouble).

Why don't WE do that?    :D  :D  :D  sorry boys  :D

Ways To Raise Funding / Cold War on the national curriculum
« on: September 30, 2011, 12:33:15 PM »
Came across this on the BBC news website:

Surely there must be a way we can tie in with this? Is it worth an e-mailshot to the local schools?

Ways To Raise Funding / Trust stand at Salute 2011
« on: April 17, 2011, 05:12:38 PM »
On Saturday the Trust had a stand at Salute 2011, a wargames exhibition put on by the South London Warlords.

We were kindly hosted, free of charge, by Ragged Angel Ltd.

They have a new book which was launched at Salute - "Fire Season". Please consider purchasing a copy in return for their support of us. If you purchase a copy via their website, a percentage of the profit will go to VTTS.

Best seller of the day was Vulcan To The Pie cookbooks. I can't think why........................
