Vulcan Village / Shoreham shop
« on: September 02, 2012, 06:20:53 AM »
Hi Everyone

Here is a photograph of the "Shoreham Shop Team" Not the Vulcan Village (Supermarket) at Shoreham this weekend.

Behind the team is a weather/garden sculpture of a Vulcan from one of the Exhibitors at the show. The Team had negotiated with the exhibitor to let them place/sell the Vulcan infront of the shop where it had many admiring comments. The cost of the Vulcan was £190 and made of strong steel and would really look good in any garden or garage roof.

Really good display on Saturday from our lady over the downs

Engineering / Tail Strike On Arrival at Farnborough?
« on: July 14, 2012, 12:55:40 AM »
I have just been looking in "Fighter Control" Airshow photographs for my nightly Fix & came across this.....

There is a photograph of XH558 landing at Farnborough by GatwickSteve I guess on the Monday. :?  :?

I know it is probably the "Angle Effect" blimey she looks close to the ground with Tail & wing tips     I bet the tail skid warning lights glowed a little.

Question I have: Does the tail have to strike before they come on or is there a limit before they come on i.e. 1m

Engineering / AL Murray Pays a Visit to 558
« on: April 24, 2012, 09:29:02 PM »
Just read on FC that Al Murray paid another visit to see our lady on Monday.

There are some good photographs of him having a good look around our newly painted girl :D  :D

I must have missed the article on this website has it been posted yet? If it has my apologies

Ways To Raise Funding / Photo Nightshoot
« on: February 26, 2012, 09:30:48 PM »
I thought I would run this past you all again to raise funds before the end of March, I know it has been touched on before and lost the mists of time but....

I am not sure if this viable in the very near future ( End Of March) or if 558 is still up on jacks :?:  :?: But if someone who makes Decisions up at Vulcan HQ whether a photo night shoot of XH558 is possible. We can then use the a/c to make some money!!! Oh well I will go back to my ship now & think of something else ;)  ;)

Engineering / 2012 Winter Service Components
« on: September 10, 2011, 07:20:24 AM »
I thought I would ask this question it says in the Vulcan News "Component Life Register (CLR) aimed at raising the finance for the 2012 Winter service starting in November 2011"

Is the scheme starting in November? or is it the Winter Service starting November? Or is it me just not reading it right

Once the components have enough money will they removed from the shop? This will be a good indication of how things are progressing (Just my idea :D  :D )

Aviation Waffle / Spitfire Too Noisy
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:08:22 PM »
Just reading the British papers on line & came across this

The world's only female Spitfire pilot yesterday hit back at critics who complained that her Second World War fighter plane was too noisy.

Carolyn Grace, 58, flies the iconic aircraft to the delight of war veterans and history buffs to shows all over the country from her base in Rendlesham, Suffolk.

I wonder what this one person might say if XH558 was based down there ;)

Ways To Raise Funding / Fathers/Mothers Day & 558
« on: June 05, 2011, 08:45:26 AM »
I know this is a little late & not enough time to maybe get this moving for this Fathers Day but....

I thought we or the "Trust" could sell tickets for Husbands/Wives/Children to purchase tickets/Cards for "Fathers Day/ Mothers Days" which will enable the Father/Mother with the ticket/Card to have a conducted tour around XH558 when she is on the ground at a show near them or at Doncaster/Finningley when the tours commence.

It could be on going throughout the year, not just for Fathers/Mothers day's where the lucky Fathers/Mothers will be able to use the Ticket/Card they have been given as a present.

Oh well just a thought which would bring in much needed money :D  :D

Aviation Waffle / Harriers back in the air???
« on: April 28, 2011, 09:40:38 PM »
I do not know if this has been covered on a thread yet?

On the front page of the Portsmouth News it says "There could be a turn round & the Harriers that have been moth ball'd at Cottesmore could be brought back to flying again" :D  :D  :D  It also stated the Defence Minster has made several hints that this could happen ;)

It only taked David Cameron to eat humble pie & they would be back, it would take two months to get them air worthy so.....

Let us keep our fingers crossed that will happen.

The carrier Illustrious having a big re fit is going to be the carrier used and the ski jump is to stay in place so the FAA will be back in business

Hi Sarah/Ian

Will there be a meeting this year for all who want to help with the VV at the AGM or another venue.

I know both of you are very busy but I thought I would ask so I can plan where I can help/hinder you the most when I am home.

Ways To Raise Funding / Using 558 for Night Photo at shows
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:58:27 PM »
Just looking through some old air magazines and noticing how popular "Night time photgraphy shoots" have become. :D  :D

I was think when XH558 is at airshows and staying overnight why not arrange some lamps put in certian places to give her a nightime dramatic effect. With this advertised on the Vulcan website and airshow posters charge the photograhers to shoot away.

This could raise much needed monies for her up keep. (Just a thought)

Aviation Waffle / Re: Nimrod aircraft 'could become scrap metal'
« on: October 31, 2010, 01:57:23 PM »
Yes what a waste (Me shaking my head)

Why the cannot build and use them is beyond me

I suppose if they do scrap them they will use the metal for the two aircraft carriers, it smells of the TSR 2 affait again to kiss the USA A****    Sorry I got carried away

Vulcan Village / Lightning Strike at Airshow
« on: August 14, 2010, 01:39:12 AM »
I hope Richard & Kate & everyone at the Vulcan Village are ok after I read about this inccident below. :D  :D
Lucky Lad but all the 13's makes you think or was it hyped ;)  ;)

Friday the 13th is often thought of as an unlucky day - and it certainly lived up to its reputation for one youngster. Skip related content
Friday 13 unlucky for lightning boy At precisely 13:13, a boy aged 13 was seen by the St John Ambulance team at Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival in Suffolk after he was struck by lightning, a spokesman said.

The boy suffered a minor burn and was taken to James Paget Hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
