Ways To Raise Funding / Regular giving vs. one offs
« on: July 01, 2016, 12:28:14 PM »
Back in the early days, before the first flight and afterwards the push always seemed to be for people to set up DDs and give regularly.  Consequently I've been quietly dribbling several hundred a year in to the organisation.  The benefits of known, regular income are obvious and I suspect a significant proportion of the trusts funds come in this way.

However over the past few years the campaigning emphasis has been on buying shares and funding individual efforts and these donations often come with associated rewards.

Whilst my main goal in giving was always to support the maintenance and operation of the aircraft I can't help feel I've missed out over the last few years having given many hundreds but not received any rewards.

I'd be interested in other's opinions on this and particularly in any official response.

Aviation Waffle / Gatwick casual viewing
« on: November 27, 2015, 03:23:40 PM »
Off to Gatwick North tomorrow to pick my wife up.  It would be nice to show my two year old boy some planes be it taxiing or on the stand or maybe somewhere we can stop on the way there with a good view.

I know Gatwick closed their dedicated facilities years ago but any recommendations would be much appreciated.  He is only two so I'm not looking for an expedition, just somewhere he can see big planes close up or in action for the first time.

Engineering / The new 'Vulcan'

So if the the trust where to take on a new 'to the sky project' what would you nominate?

My 'realistic' pool would be Lightning, Buccaneer & Harrier from which I'd probably plump for the Lightning though it's fag paper close.

My 'unrealistic' pool has a Victor and Concorde in it!

And as an completely left field suggestion a new Avro 707 from scratch with a modern engine.

We need some coasters for the office.  "I know" I thought, I'll get some Vulcan ones.

Most surprised to see the range doesn't extend to this staple of the merchandise world.

Is apparently going to be on show at the Goodwood Revival.

Does anyone know who operates this, I've love to get in touch and find out when it's arriving, fun to see one of those landing on a grass strip.

Ways To Raise Funding / Extra display - Goodwood Revival???
« on: September 05, 2011, 02:42:10 PM »
Bearing in mind the recent loss of display revenue, compounded by this weekend's weather cancellations, has Dr. P. considered getting in touch with the nice people at Goodwood to see if they can stretch to another Vulcan display?  The Revial audience is a different one (albeit with quite a bit of overlap) to the Festival of Speed one and the venues are different as well of course (and actually the wide open motor circuit / airfield is much better suited to displays than the area round the house for the FoS anyaway)
