Aviation Waffle / VC10 to Cosford
« on: May 14, 2015, 10:48:45 AM »
Our local paper has run this story about VC10 'BoB' coming to Cosford.. by road in late June. Shame it couldn't have the dignity of a final landing...

Aviation Waffle / Battle of Britain Chapel Closure
« on: January 12, 2015, 08:32:13 AM »
E petition is now in place to campaign against the closure of St. George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance Biggin Hill. 100000 sigs needed for a possible debate in parliament.

By March 2016,the Royal Air Force/Ministry of Defence are withdrawing all support from the Chapel. If no one or group takes on the responsibility of this magnificent Memorial Chapel, it will be closed without access to the public or church services.

This Chapel was built as a Memorial to Aircrew, who had their lives taken in World War ll, they fought and they died. We, today, have the freedom to forget. To sign the petition  the link is

Aviation Waffle / Budapest Airshow 2014
« on: November 04, 2014, 08:40:16 PM »
A friend of mine has just sent me this link. Many may have already seen it - but just in case not.. it's worth a look.
For obvious reasons most of this flying may not be reproduced in the UK any time soon. Anywhere. By any aircraft.

And 558 only has a reputation for being able to set off car alarms. No roofs blown off .. so far?

thankfully no one was hurt.

Book / Film / TV Reviews / Sea King programme
« on: March 01, 2013, 12:14:46 PM »
Excellent programme on BBC2 last night about the Sea King. Not too sure if John Sargeant's presentation style worked as well as it could...at times almost comical in the delivery and overly dry. Leaving that aside a great reminder of the Sea King's capabilities and unquestionable jaw-dropping heroic flying by its crews.

Not good to read of the 787's problems.Pioneering technologies have caught aircraft manufacturers out at least once or twice before... this time Boeing are having to face the in-service difficulties. At least so far without any real loss incurred and let's hope it stays that way. Funny how only one US carrier (United) has 787's. Were the others waiting to see how the 'foreigners' got on with the 787 first?

BBC website has a very informative image pointing out where the engines and cockpit are located. Even all the electronics being in one place? Useful stuff

Another example of what Vulcan pilots do after they retire....

I suspect this story is already well known... but as I was  in the dentist's room today, for once earlier enough to have a good read.. it was great to spot this piece.
