« on: April 27, 2015, 06:44:34 AM »
I'm challenging all forum friends.

The forum following in past years used to regularly organise fundraising targets to purchase items of equipment for the Trust.

My challenge to you all, the cycle to the sky team have so far raised £3197, 42% of the target, I would love to be 50% by Saturday the day of the ride.

CAN FORUM FRIENDS RAISE THE £550 REQUIRED TO DO THIS. THIS IS YOUR CHALLENGE SHOULD YOU WISH TO ACCEPT IT.

Donate via www.justgiving.com/cycletothesky2 simply include the word forum in your message.

I will add up the totals and post on here every night.

Ways To Raise Funding / Cycle to The Sky - 14th & 15th May 2014

Cycle To The Sky - ReLaunch

www.justgiving.com/cycletothesky

We are very excited to announce that the Cycle To The Sky fundraising bike ride will take place on the 14th & 15th May 2014, starting from Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground and ending at Robin Hood Airport Hangar 3, taking in Newark, Coningsby, Waddington and Scampton, some 150 miles over 2 days!!!

Even more exciting than that our very own committee members Lee Gosling and Sean Bennett along with Vulcan To The Sky Club member David Moore will be completing this epic trip.

Please do support the team in reaching the objectives of raising £5580 for Vulcan XH558 donations can be made by following the Just giving link.

More news to follow.

6-12-13 update above :)

A couple of months ago we received a fundraising event suggestion from Club Member
Jo Hill via our Facebook page. The idea was a sponsored cycle ride between XH558’s place of
restoration, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, and her current home at
Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster, a distance of around 100 miles.

We put the idea to the Vulcan To The Sky Trust on the basis that our organising
the event on their behalf would enable sponsorship to benefit from Gift
Aid: they responded enthusiastically and so planning began!

The intention is to complete the challenge over two days with a
maximum of six riders, and we are seeking volunteers. Each rider must
be a Club Member, be fit and able to complete the distance, have their
own machinery, safety equipment and clothing, plus be able to raise
sponsorship for the team and carry out some media activities. The
riders will need to get to Bruntingthorpe for the start of the ride and
return home from Robin Hood Airport the following day.

In addition to the riders, we require a volunteer support vehicle and
driver to follow the team to provide backup. Ideally, this person should
be first aid qualified and have experience of cycle repairs / maintenance.
The vehicle will carry cycle spares, overnight luggage for the riders,
food and drink.

If you are interested in taking part in this challenge, please contact
either Paul Gulliver or Lee Gosling (<!-- e -->eastanglia.regions@vulcantotheskyclub.co.uk<!-- e -->), setting out your
cycling experience and ideas for securing sponsorship. Paul and Lee will
select the team. The Club and Trust will be seeking sponsorship of the
team via the Vulcan Village and other stand appearances, in addition to
online and Twitter promotion.

At present we do not have a finalised date for the challenge. However, it
is likely to be mid-week and during October 2013, thereby maximising
our opportunities for attracting support over the summer.
Above all, this is intended to be a fun fundraising event, not a race, with
the aim of supporting Operation 2015.

We look forward to hearing from you <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

We have set up a just giving webpage <!-- w -->www.justgiving.com/cycletothesky<!-- w --> dig deep <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

If you can make yourself known to us if you are interested in taking part in this event.

All the best

Engineering / Vulcan bomb sight
« on: August 10, 2012, 01:38:16 PM »
Your expert help please :) one of our FB friends has posted on the page, that he has a Vulcan bomb site and wants to findout more information about it? Did Vulcans ever carry traditional bomb aimers bomb site? Which models? Is there a way of finding out which aircraft this piece of equipment belonged to?

Thanks in advance

Aviation Waffle / Peoples Mosquito
« on: January 03, 2012, 01:01:32 PM »
Thought you all would like to follow this idea/project.

A band of aviation enthusiasts have got together to return a Mossie back to flight and donate it to the BBMF when airworthy, sounds like a massive challenge to me,as yet they dont have a Mossie to restore or if there are any available in a fit state to return to flight, I dont know where they intend to restore her, cost or time scales planned.

you can follow the project. Here

Aviation Waffle / Radar Museum info required please read
« on: December 29, 2011, 08:21:25 PM »
Afternoon all.

The RAF Air Radar Museum in Norfolk has asked if we can help provide any information on this particular bit of equipment they have at the museum.

"Dialect" a bit of equipment supposed to have been developed as a ground-based EW system from part of the Vulcan bomber EW suite". Pictures below.

They have very little info on this equipment, so if anyone has anything, how it worked, what it was designed for, how it worked in regards to the Vulcan or other aircraft? please either email me, post on here, or comment on the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/RAF-Air-Defence-Radar-Museum/157795494271602

have fun

Aviation Waffle / Vampire preservation Appeal
« on: August 18, 2011, 04:42:23 PM »
Hi all,

Had this email through from WZ507, they have launched an appeal to cover the costs of an engine change and an unplanned jet pipe change which they need to find, please see email below and distribute the flyer as you see fit or if you fancy putting a few quid in the pot vist there website.

http://www.vampirepreservation.org.uk/index.html

Facebook page (perhaps the trust could put a link to it from there Facebook page)

http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pag ... 1376189100

To all supporters and friends of Vampire WZ507

As you may have heard, WZ507 is currently grounded whilst a new engine is fitted.

It would be very helpful if we could help raise the profile of this aircraft. One of our members has produced the attached leaflet to help publicise the aircraft, make more people aware of our existence and hopefully encourage people to join our supporters club.

If you are willing to print out the attached leaflet and post in on a notice board in your local aviation museum, aviation club, flying school, RAF association, etc., it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Matt Hampton
