Aviation Waffle / 18th October 2007 - 8yrs ago today
« on: October 18, 2015, 12:49:41 PM »
I remember it vividly. I remember the ground crew on tenter hooks, I remember the frantic checking of weather by the aircrew. I remember the moment she thundered down the runway and the moment she lifted off - watching her circle with undercarriage down.

THANK YOU ALL who made it possible, too many to mention here but most of all I thank 558 supporters who kept the faith and dug deep when needed despite the many who said it couldn't be done and when it happened then said it was unsustainable.

Almost 13yrs of our life played second fiddle to 558 because she came first - constant meetings, late night phone calls, 60 -70 emails a day, research, rewriting of schedules etc, etc but you know what - it was worth it!

Once again our heart felt thank you.

558 made an appearance at RAF Coningsby today for the Lincs Lancs Association day. She made 2 passes then returned with 7 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes in Battle formation.

Just brilliant.

Engineering / 558s Airframe
« on: March 11, 2013, 01:31:49 PM »
The following was posted on FB yesterday lunch time -

Great news on the airframe – all the test results are now back and she is in magnificent condition with just a few minor non-structural items to address. The technical team is now refitting the crew and engine safety equipment, including the oxygen bottles shown in the captioned photographs just posted. She should be ready for the first check flight in April.

That's good to know but I can't see anything on the home page about it [and I have checked with a couple of others in case I need spec savers] so I'm just wondering why the powers that be see fit to post on FB but not on their own website? unless I've have missed it of course and in that case I profoundly apologise I would have thought all and any good news would be welcome so supporters know it's only money or the lack of that could stop her flying and nothing technical with the airframe.

But it does lead me to ask if the management doesn't consider their own website worthy why should anyone else?
