Ways To Raise Funding / I've had an idea - is it worthwhile considering?
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:26:26 PM »
I paid my club subs about 3 months (£24) ago. I am due to renew BY July 1st next year.

I am aware (as are most of us) that the club makes donations to the trust from time to time and therefore (just an idea , shoot me down in flames if you wish)  if I and many many other members (we have around 250000 I believe) were to agree to pay their next membership renewal at the end of October and the club then donate it to the trust that could make a very large dent in the appeal target. I dont know how much the club actually need as a proportion of my membership fee  but if it helps I would also forgo one or two issues of the magazine to enable the costs to be diverted to the appeal. I know this might only defer the problem but it could help to buy us time to get through to next season when the income stream is far more favourable.

If we have 25k members and 2/3rd were willing to do this (it's not costing them more just the same amount earlier) and say 2/3rds of the membership fee per person could be donated to the trust it could raise around £300k now.  i.e. 2/3 x 25000 (i.e. 16333) x 2/3of 24 (i.e. £16) is £297k - I said approximately!

Is this a sensible approach or not- I'd love to pay my membership early in the knowledge that the future were secure through to next spring if that's what it would achieve.

comments please?

Ways To Raise Funding / textathon
« on: September 03, 2010, 10:14:57 PM »
I've taken the bull by the horns and started an initiative that might bring in a few quid, I've sent a text worded thus to some of my friends (and it could be e-mailed as well):
please help to keep the Vulcan flying by texting a £3 donation, just text Vulcan to 82055 and the donation will be taken from your phone account, thank you
Aggy has also put it on the Vulcan facebook page and I've sent it to those who I have mobile nos for so hopefully they will cascade it out and get it as far and wide as possible (thanks Aggy)
might just get a few spontaneous donations which is better than sitting here worrying about the future

Vulcan Village / signs for hired vans
« on: September 01, 2010, 03:41:42 PM »
sorry , been busy but meant to post this after lowestoft.

when I saw Gregg and the VV at Lowestoft I saw the white van that he was driving for the weekend to transport the VV and all the gubbins that goes with it. I was surpprised that the trust didnt have it's own but after discussions I agreed with Gregg that with a lot of 'laid up' time it was cheaper to hire. I then asked why dont we have some magnetic signs that can be stuck onto such hired vehicles so that they spread the word during their travels to and from shows - and while parking at the shows , every little helps. - can thought be given to this when time allows please , or is it too silly an idea?
