I had heard about it but didn't realise there were passengers on board.

Very sad.

I think the best you can say is it's only confirmation of what has been hinted at over the last couple of years and lets face it, it's almost 3 yrs since 558s last flight. With negotiations only now starting between solicitors  and we know how long that process can take, I can't see it being built in time for occupation next year but I do hope I'm wrong.

Not feasible to relocate, it could be done but would cost an arm and leg and she would never be the same.  I have heard that the owners have stated before they would set aside an area where she could go but she wouldn't ever run again feel let alone move under her own power.

This is the latest ..

Well, to see there will be public access tours starting next month is a good thing, but why does it take so long to organise? 558 has been where she is for months, OK there may not be as much interest over the winters months as the summer, but 655 MaPS seem to mange perfectly well in similar conditions.

It was there because I read it.

Most fora adopt the stance of either editing the post or moving it to a MODs area, normally it is usual for whoever removed it from public view to inform the poster as to why it has been taken down/edited.

At the moment it's not even a rich persons a/c, just the play thing of a select few (my opinion).

Whatever way I look at it, plastering 558 with stickers is just wrong, and not what any aircraft where there are ambitions of it being the centre of an exhibition should look like.

It's still showing as 'so that's it then' in the index Sam. It looks to me like Bill's thread has been merged with this one for some reason.

I saw rumours of this happening a few weeks ago. No find no fee! either confident of success or a make or  break bet?

Good luck to them, I will be following the search.

Aviation Waffle / Re: No Scampton Airshow for 2018
« on: December 15, 2017, 08:46:41 AM »
I can't remember what the tickets were selling for but I know they were more than Waddington was, and considering they advertised the fact that the air show would be smaller I'm not surprised they didn't sell as many as they thought they might.

I wonder if manpower made a difference to the expenditure too. They used RAF Waddington man power for the Waddington show but there isn't that available at Scampton.

It is a shame as Lincolnshire is well known for it's aviation and in the year of 100th RAF anniversary it is a blow.

Andy it's on the yellow bar under the page title. Tho' from what I can see it's for Guardians only, I can't find any info about becoming a Guardian (and why it's under the shopping section I have no idea).

Other than wanting direct control of the finances I can't think why they wanted to challenge the success of the Club. It had bailed them out many times.

Does anyone know on average what the contribution from the Club was per annum?

Ways To Raise Funding / Re: Funding the new hangar - how?
« on: September 23, 2017, 11:36:41 AM »
Ermmm.... wasn't it mentioned earlier in the year that they had someone lined up for funding the new Hangar, now they say they are in talks with prospective investors or is my memory playing tricks on me?

As with all press releases it appears to be a game of smoke and mirrors.
