Two reasons I cannot bid.
1  Won't be able to afford to bid :(
2  Too far away :(
Good luck to whoever gets it.

Well my bid was surpassed some way back and the bidding looks like it's leading to a great boost to the funds - brilliant.

personally i think this was not the way to do it.  as usual - only gives the rich a chance of doing it. a raffle would have probably raised more money.

Quite agree Sir.  Have realised that you can only get good things if you have quite a bit of money.

Maybe they will do one later on as a raffle, however, we've had 2(?) of them already this year and they take a bit of organising.  Unfortunately, this is a money game, and the VTST must raise the maximum they can.  They cannot afford to give away this sort of thing for any less than top dollar.

What is the difference between having to pay loads of money for the engine run, but are NOT allowed to charge for hanger tours.  It's the same aircraft on the same RAF base.

The fact is it has a value, otherwise people wouldn't have bid on it. So do they let someone come and see it for a tenner, or a grand?

only need a 100 enties and you have a grand!! and i bet you'd get more like 5K to 10k via raffle..

yes an individual pays a tenner, a grand just takes another opertunity away from the average vulcan fan.

still think the raffle would raise far more...

That's why the Blades flights were offered as one auction prize & one raffle prize.

However, the direct consequence of this was we got hammered by an un-named, online merchant because they needed a continent of paperwork before they'd let us sell raffle-tickets for anything.  I know they made some very serious threats if 'we' didn't cease our dodgy activities immediately (basically - stop it or we will close down your account).  And I also know that the process was highly automated (nothing but automated replies to 'our' emails with further threats).  There are some folk that you cannot reason with...

As a result, I suspect this offering could only be sold as an auction-prize.

I know Ian is badgering away so that the required status is agreed with the un-named, online merchant...

Ian (and the rest of us) know very well we'd have made more by offering it in two guises but that couldn't be (perhaps though, the reasons could have been spelled out here so everyone understood the situation - another lesson learned).
