I was there on the Saturday, and it was a truly emotional sight to witness.  The mass scramble, visually breathtaking display, the noise of those 16 Merlin's awesome.  But not forgetting the real reason why I/we were all there.

I was there that day as well. I'd never even been to a Duxford show before but as soon as I heard what they had planned I just had to go, and Im so glad I did as it was one of the most amazing things I have seen in my entire life, let alone at an airshow. I was stood down the western end in line with where they started their take off runs, I have never felt the ground shake because of a Spitfire before but 16 of them seemed to do it. My video of it is rubbish because I simply didnt know where to point my camcorder, it was absolutely wonderful chaos.

Well done Duxford.

:D  Yea - but couldn't hear it over the Merlins  :D

I was down on the Tank bank - and didn't use my camcorder much at all, had to see it with my eyes not thru a view finder/LCD screen.  I think most people were the same - and there was no noise from the spectators during the display either...not often that happens.

Wonderful - as mentioned the reason for the airshow was to commemorate the Battle of Britain, but it also pays tribute to the amazing efforts (and finance) that went in to producing these aircraft that now undergo more strict rules than when they were originally in battle, as we are all aware.
At such a flypast I "cup" my hands around my ears to try to exclude all other sounds - it's difficult to describe the pleasure it gives without sound too odd.
