It was today in 1945 that the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.

Lets all hope we never have to witness another Nuke dropped in anger again.  That one was a minnow - compared to what was/is available in todays world.  :(

Makes you appreciate more what the V Force was all about. The Nuclear deterrant and (if push came to shove) a delivery platform to deliver a Nuke in reply. (Makes you glad that the Cold War is a thing of history)

Six days later the dropped the second bomb on Nagasaki (which was the secondary target, 1st had too much cloud cover)

Pictures of where it landed and memorials who died, not just Japanese there were Chinese workers in camps & some POW's nearby.

PS

Ground Zero

Shrines to the memory of people killed

I had quite a heated discussion on this with a workmate.
He was adamant it was Enola Gay that dropped the atomic bomb that effectively stopped WW2.

He wasn't impressed when I tried to correct him and explained it was the second atomic bomb dropped (fatman) by Bokscar that effectively ended WW2!

It's not the forum moderators doing anything. There's something wrong with your photobucket links. Have you moved the pictures to another folder since linking to them? Has everyone got permission to view the pictures and you haven't got them in a private photobucket folder??

I had the same problem on the old Forum , when I was trying to get them to display from a direct link to a "storage site" { like photobucket }
Luckily , there's another way to upload photos on this forum :
From the "Post a reply" screen :
1. Click on the "upload attachment" button
2. Select the .jpg{s} you want { I did it for images stored on my computer , so not sure how it applies to pix stored on Photobucket , etc. }
3. When the .jpg{s} has finished uploading , you'll get another option box saying "place inline".......click on this option & it automatically places the .jpg{s} into the message

I had a PM from WCG suggesting some ideas why the pictures disappeared Thanks Clive

Well it is all down to me :oops:  :oops:

"What happened your Honour" It was a terrible day here on the ship, Monsoon heavy rain all day so I thought I would sort out my photobucket account and delete pictures I would not use anymore, me having a brain storm the two cells not thinking about the links to Hiroshima and the car coming out of the sea so...... they were deleted hence the pictures disappearing DOH!!!!!!!! :oops:  :oops:  :oops:

Thanks again WCG for the help now I know and I hope it will help others  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:
