Two Hawks landed at MAN today where their pilots had a meeting with the Fire Service about rescue from military aircraft and then took off back to wherever. Only one person in each...

Some Lancaster or other did a flyby at the Manchester air show today. Blades, ravens and 4 wrinkly aircraft as well. Including the first aircraft to land at Ringway 75 years ago -a Hornet Moth.

Didn't see that but did hear a USAF aircraft overhead a couple of times earlier. They sometimes show up on FR24 because it now supports MLAT. Didn't identify the type in this case though.

Thanks to Jane I was on the lookout and heard, and then saw, one of the VC10's climbing over Gloucester heading North. That was at 10:05 but didn't see or hear the second one but maybe it took off at the same time and headed elsewhere.

Sad to think that it is probably the last time I'll see that.

Busy day in the skies at Wellingborough today - the highlights, x3 Chipmunks, x3 Tigermoths and a HUEY (I think it must have been G-HUEY 509? - my first time seeing her!!  ;D ;D)  Think heard a Spitfire over that way too.

They're over for ChipFest at Sywell this Fri & w/e.

Wild Card!!!  ;D

This RAF Air / Sea rescue launch.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1262606/The-Spitfire-seas-rides-board-remarkable-WWII-rescue-boat.html

I was lucky enough to get a very close view of her @ high speed on her way home to Pompey from the Southampton boat show - very impressive, especially when viewed from a small dinghy.

Well it is sort of aircraft related  ;)
