Strange, the RAF report seems to suggest the problem is with the pilot and not the Hawk. Anyone notice a Hawk Display Aircraft taxiing down a Motorway recently?

Don't know the reasons behind this .... anyone know what happened to cause this cancellation - or is it subject of a pending RAF Enquiry ?

I'm guessing the latter.

All that seems clear at the moment is that there was an unspecified 'incident' involving the display pilot. This is being investigated, and he may well turn out to be completely innocent of any transgression. He has returned to normal Squadron duties.

Meanwhile, all booked 2010 appearances by the Hawk display will be replaced by a role demo, flown by another pilot in the 'union flag' marked aircraft.

I guess that is what we had at Lowestoft yesterday then. how is a 'role demo' different to a display? it looked ok to me.

My interpretation is a role demo consists only of manoeuvres that are within the operational envelope of the aircraft, mostly high speed passes - there no aerobatic moves.

Yep.. and a few pyrotechnics lobbed in for effect (Tonka and Harrier paticularily)  ;)

I thought he did some loops and rolls etc.. but I could be thinking about some of the other marvelous planes that were there. a very good display, the best in the area.
