Thanks for the photos Mackrick - lovely to see!

I have a question I wonder whether anyone can answer please?  I've see a couple of YouTube clips which show her making a low pass over Finningley prior to landing.  She has her undercarriage down at this point.  Is that usual on a test flight?  I know for first flight she kept her undercarriage down (or was it very briefy retracted mid-flight?), but surely she didn't for this flight?

Cheers!   :)  :)

Gear went straight up on take off, so I'm guessing she lowered it upon entering the circuit. Only had reports from the Lyneham end!  ;)

Yes Wizzy, she tends to land better on her undercarriage, than on her belly :o

No seriously, it was always planned to do a pass before landing, so the undercarriage was lowered as soon as she came in to circuit.

In doing that - does that not add to stress factors on U/C gear ? (just curious... as her return to flight from Brunty saw her do a long-ish flight with the U/C down)

No, the crew definitely have to put the gear down before they can land.

The door is in the bottom and if they don't lower the undercarrige they will not be able to get out.

Of course if they don't put the wheels down they may not want to get out because they are going to have to answer some very awkward questions. ;)

wasn;t it not so long ago that someone in the States 'landed' a B1 after forgetting to get the legs out?
