the 2011 photo competition - the final result
« on: November 20, 2011, 05:39:40 PM »
These are the 5 finalists in the 2011 photo competition, for photographs taken between 1st November 2010 and 4th November 2011, congratulations to all 5 finalists for making it this far from an entry of over 200 photographs

The photographers are not named to ensure equality as far as possible

Please do not post any comments, moderators will remove any comments to ensure the voting is as fair and un-canvassed as possible, thank you.

You will only be able to vote once, thank you for your support, enjoy the photos and if you can please spare a few pounds(at least) to support XH558.

Never has one aircraft generated so much interest by so many!

Please select your favourite and vote for it (one vote only) and I have set the poll for 7 days so voting will close on Sunday 27th at around 5.40 pm. You may vote for your own photograph (I have no way of preventing that anyway)

The choices are these 5:

1: Section 1 winner – pictures of XH 558
Between the trees, Fairford RIAT 16 July 2011

2: Section 2 winner- other aviation photos
Harrier Sunset RAF Cottesmore 10th November 2010

3: Section 3 winner -  Vulcan village and other trade stands
All tucked up for the night. Friday night, Waddington 2011

4: Section 4 Winner – aircrew and groundcrew
Taff

5: Section 5 winner – photos of XH558 taken on a compact camera

Less than 24 hours left to vote now, will it be the Harrier or will there be a late surge of votes for one of the others?

The poll has now closed andit's congratulations to Andy Brown (Hairrig) who's Harrier sunset has won with 47 votes. His Vulcan between the trees was second and M0jec (Norman Bland) 3rd with his photo over Highclere Castle. Well done to both of them and to the other 2 finalists Landyman and Beastman.

Thanks again to everybody who entered - a fantastic selection of photos this year, to the judges who selected the shortlists, to everybody who voted and thanks for supporting XH558, according to Ian the competition sold £564 worth of tokens so it seems some weren't used and most if not all was subject to gift aid which bumps the sum up to £676.

I will get in touch with the winners shortly re their prizes.

thanks again for your support
Andy

Many thanks to Andy for organising the competition.
Not only did it raise a good amount of money but we all had the pleasure of seeing many pictures that would not otherwise have seen the light of day.
Please may we do it again next year.

I echo this sentiment, and that was one seriously good shot of the Harrier.

I'm more that pleased to have (just) made 3rd place, well done to all who entered.

Defo looking forward to next year's competition. See if i can fluke being in the right place at the right time again!
