Actual Royal Wedding Flypast
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:42:07 PM »
Unless anybody knows any different, this is the Flypast setup
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... g-day.html
I'm not raising any comments as to why a certain other Lady will not be there, but two of these vintage aircraft only have one engine each; but then again, they are all operated by the Royal Air Force.

Aren't the Red Arrows still in Akrotiri ??

As for the helos.....maybe because in the event of problems they don't tend to autorotate very far ?

Nice to see several people in the comments section asking "Wot -- no Vulcan ??"

Edited to say : Beaten by Mayfly re. the Reds !

Perhaps the only things flying over London on Friday will be the pigeons.

The weather forecast does not look great at the moment.

It was persisting on Sep 25 1965. I have the incriminating photos to prove it.    :o

I don\'t want a second childhood. I\'m still enjoying the first one.

Reds missing this opertunity for a mega media flypast ?  Can't see them missing out on this event personally. (Methinks they will sneak back from Cyprus for this one).

Maybe it's a plot by HMG/MOD......get the plebs used to not seeing the Reds display at big events , then quietly bin them in favour of displays by Valley's 4FTS instead !!  :o  :P

I'd sooner see the Reds than the BBMF for a wedding flypast (don't think BBMF is really appropriate..?)

Don't they need a new one each season as they change 3 pilots every year ?

There's more of a chance of our lady joining the flypast than the Reds!

Even Her Majesty herself shifted the date of her Official 50th Jubilee Celebration to fit in with the Red Arrows Schedule.

The Reds WILL NOT be ready by the standards set by themselves, and after last year's incident NOTHING will pursuade them to break their own stringent protocol!

I personally think that it's very sad that they won't be there, but that's the way it is!

To answer the question about the PDA for the Reds, they don't actually need one!

Being the best of the best Pilots of the RAF they can fly wherever and whenever they choose within UK Airspace.

However, as they voluntarily choose to adhere to the rules set down by the CAA and get a PDA each year, they have been offered dispensations such as being allowed to enter their Display above the crowd.
