I must admit that the piece on Senna was the most sensitive thing they have done in all the years TG has been on TV. Well done BBC.

Christmas special in JULY! - what is the world coming to?

back on topic- Top Gear: I've almost given up watching it , for me it used to be a 'must watch' programme but just getting a bit too silly nowadays, I see Jezza was in trouble with some remarks he made about certain ladies' headwear in one recent show, - just trying to push boundaries to far I think and it could be their downfall.

Brilliant, wasn't it?  And I'm man enough to admit it brought a tear to my eye.  One thing the 'Hate Clarkson' brigade don't appreciate is that when he's not dicking about, he makes excellent documentaries.  Has anyone seen the one he made about VC winners?

But back to the dicking about, the Reliant Robin film at the start of the series was one of the funniest I've seen for a while.

They filmed last year's Christmas special in July as well........ and I missed that one being filmed by being at Fairford too !

As for Top Gear.......have to agree that it's got too infantile { and predictable } to bother watching these days -- I tend to watch the "Star in a reasonably priced car" bit , then turn it off .
At one stage , even 5th Gear was a better series { at least it had sensible articles & tested normal cars } , but I have to admit that I just can't stand the presenters on there !
Dare I say it......the best motoring show of recent years was Classic Gear !!  :o  :D

The silliness and predictability of Top Gear is half the reason I love it!  It was never a serious show and never has been since it was relaunched back in 2002, though the film on Senna in last Sunday's show was probably the most thoughtful thing they've done.  This series has been very good - Clarkson rolling the Reliant Robin had me in stitches  :D .  The way I see it, it's a fun, light-hearted show which requires absolutely no intelligence or thought to watch, and it consequently makes me forget I've got to go to work the next day, for an hour at least  :D .

Maybe the BBC should stop advertising it as a "Motoring magazine, including road tests, news and features" and just call it "3 muppits messing about in cars" instead !
Then they can commission a proper motoring show as well  :D

Fully agree, the Senna piece was very well done......
