I've just done a reply to this thread - no idea what happened to it though?!?!

Anyhow, I agree that the Senna piece was brilliant, and the way they ended up closing the show with just a simple goodbye rather than joking around after the film gave Senna the respect he deserves.

How dare the beeb though make us wait until 9.30 tonight cos of athletics grrrrr.

I enjoy the dicking around on Topgear but in the last 2/3 years its all seemed too put on. The film with the motorhomes a couple of weeks ago was good but Clarksons 'Citroen Grand Design' falling on it side and then rolling off a cliff clearly happened on purpose. They need to disguise it a bit more, we'd still know they'd done it intentionally but it would have more affect.

Enjoyed the last episode of the series last night.  That's a couple of occasions now where they've ended on a slightly more 'serious' note, in the instance bemoaning our lack of a motor industry (or any industry for that matter  :( ).  Apparently there's much more in the pipeline...

I agree that it's a bit too put on these days, but they do openly admit this, and it's still miles better than 99.9% of all the other 'reality' dross that's on the telly these days.  At least occasionally there is the odd real incident that wasn't scripted, and these are usually the funniest bits.  I might be wrong, but it didn't seem intentional that they hit the Exit sign with the caravan when they left the motorway services (several series ago).

Last night's show was a bit lack-lustre I thought.

I lived less than a mile from the TVR Factory and while we were in the process of moving we made numerous trips to the tip opposite.

It was heartbreaking to see almost 60 years of history at an end.

A friend was a security guard and in the early 90s I was given a guided tour of the factory and I saw what eventually became the Sagaris when it was still an idea coming together with chicken wire and fibreglass.

I used to love going down to the factory and watch those beautiful motors leaving. One afternoon I saw two guys from the Prodigy  driving Chimeras when they went to get measured up for their (aborted) Speed 12 cars.

The way that Russian was able to buy the company back after running it into the ground was criminal!

Yet another British Icon gone.

Last nights episode was based around TG (UK) v TG (Oz)  :)

A continuation of this is here (don't ask why it's back to front though) :

(methinks TG placed some hidden meat to get the lions to react in such a way  ;))

If they are back to front, it is to get round copyright issues.

First in the new series tonight.

Clarkson epitomized everything 'British' about the E Type Jags 50th Birthday... complete with Hurricane & Spitfire fly past. Pity Vulcan was not invited to attend, and mark another part of British history of that era.

Good episode last night. Despite the price I'd still like a go in that Growler.  :o
