What is this? (Cockpit Area Hatch)
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:42:46 PM »
This is a photograph taken in the cockpit section of XM569 which is at 'The Flying Shack', Staverton Airport, Gloucester. I did not take it and as it is 42 years since I sat in a Vulcan cockpit (the first and only time) I have no idea what the circular hatch door is for.
I have suggested, to the Jet Age Museum who it is on loan to, that it is an internal access door to the radar in the nose cone.

What is it?

And this is the condition of the flight deck area.
Not bad considering what it's been through which can be read on the Jet Age Museum facebook page
