I liked johnjosh 43 quick dig at the lack of Northwest Vulcans   :D , born and breed in the Northwest, but we cant get her up here for love nor money!

Plenty of love here Mikki, just a lack of money it would seem ...

Yet again the AVP was packed to the rafters for the arrival of the A380 yesterday, I'll bet the Airport management will be wringing their hands with glee!

I was on the southside as it arrived yesterday and I have to say for it's size it is VERY quiet,it departed on 23L and you could not hear it! Very Impressive

John,I believe that the taxiway to the end of runway 1 (23R) is currently closed for maintainence, hence it's short run down down the runway. With engines like those it is no suprise it got off the ground so sharpish.

There should be an interesting helicopter parked in the AVP today, A UH-1H Huey that served in the Vietnam War,

I bobbed in for a quick blimp. The place was busy again.

The Huey is there along with a load of Military vehicles, Jeeps, bigger things a Russian bike and a Moggy 100 Traveller :-)

The helicopter is rather smart.

Today is in aid of charity - NW Air Ambulance.

Aggy might add some words as I believe she's jumbo spotting today.

Was that for the "once in a lifetime chance" to see a A380 again?

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed the DVD. The A380 did a touch and go before getting it right 2nd time today. Foul crosswinds with large gusts are reputed to be to blame.

If you ever meet that Greg guy "persuade" him that the AVP/RVP is a nice place

It is a nice place, enjoy going, but i think the recent A380 event was nothing more than blatant rip off, to described it as a "once in a life time opportunity" is laughable.

quite agree,  a once in  a lifetime experience would have been the arrival of Concorde G-BOAC for preservation but this 'once in  a lifetime' should have read 'once every daytime' IMHO.

Or today a twice in a daytime. Yesterdays flight (Monday) made 2 landings - the 1st one was labelled a touch and go - having seen  the video it's more like a thump and go. Got it right 2nd time but aircraft couldn't leave straight away. Then, apparently, when it was trying to get away last night it touched a wingtip on something and had to be checked again. When todays flight took off yesterdays was still here.

RVP was almost back to normal after a frantic 5 days Wed-Sun.

We flew back into Manchester on Monday evening on a BA A319 from gatwick, and was indeed a very bumpy landing. The pilot warned us prior to touch down that it was going to be a rough one due to crosswind. Our plane taxied right past the A380, and it completely dwarfed us! it is an impressive aircraft.
