For the third time recently I've been told that it's a shame XH558 won't be flying any longer.
Latest was from a friend of mine on the MX-5 forum;
"did you manage to see the Vulcan go over Staverton last week. I missed it by 5 min but some of the chaps said it might return so we all waited until about 5.45 but did not come back.
I was told by one of the chaps that was prob last time it would fly as airframe was in bad condition, I thought I would check with you as you know a lot about the plane"
I can't put into print what my reply to him was or I would be barred from the forum for using bad language but I informed him of the extensive x-ray that was carried out during the last service and the airframe is in amazingly good condition. The previous one was from a bloke who said he'd heard it announced, over the public tannoy system, at the Southend air show!
