I believe that these are part of a calendar that Sqn Ldr David Thomas produced around 1994-5.... got a copy somewhere I'll check..

It was '95 to 96 calendar 15 mths [I think]   we did with Charles Toop to keep 558 in the public eye. They have been snipped as each photo was accompanied by a short informative text explaining the technical side of the photo. Thats DTs hand in the first pic.  :)

It is DT's hand, and the text is still on them (but doesn't show up very well at "internet" resolutions) or was there even more text elsewhere on the calendar?

Thanks to you both for helping narrow down where they came from.

The cockpit picture should really have the text on a short side to keep the aircraft in its orientation when the picture was taken....lol

I had to scan them in sections as they are almost a3 and my scanner is only a4!

I don't mean the captions that you can see on the photos in this thread. Each photo had about 3-500 words to go with it. The calendar was A3 size or perhaps a tad bigger.

The cockpit photo was taken at about 70deg angle of bank you can see by the artificial horizon and is what you would see sitting the pilots seat. The write up had a graphic showing the instruments and the readings. I've just realised it shows DT displaying from the right seat.

He was talking to a fellow once who told him the photo wasn't real - he snook away shame faced when DT explained it was his photo taken on his camera by a crew member.

I thought that might be the case, would love to see some of the extra text.

Maybe I'll get to see an intact calendar eventually?

I noticed the angle of bank.......a lovely pic, and we know that the vulcan loves to be at these strange angles, especially when Kev is in the left seat!!

A shame we might have less than 12 months of it left.
