Wow she was pretty good wasn't she?

Where have I put my spare pair of socks?

Makes you realise who the multiple choice questions are aimed at on the telly.

Of course , you all realise that's why they interview the contestants in these shows beforehand.......so they can select questions that are potentially fair for all -- if one had mentioned an interest in aircraft , it wouldn't have been asked.

How many of you know people who've been on any of these types of shows ??
I know a few , and they all confirm what's been said repeatedly by others........it's a heck of a lot harder when 'in the spotlight' than when sitting at home watching , even though most { if not all } of these shows either have off-screen heats to select those who'll be on the show or have practice rounds off-camera before filming.
Even then , the pressure of 'going live' can get to people , hence why on Mastermind the lowest score is something like 4 or 5 & several contestants have only scored 1 or 2 in their "Specialist subject" round.

You'll probably find she answered "Spitfire" because it's the only one of the choices she'd heard of !!
{ And technically you could say the Spitfire was a 'bomber' in the same was as the Hurricane , Typhoon & Tempest were !!  ;)  }

Heck , ask me a question about football & I can pretty much guarantee I'll get it wrong , because the game doesn't interest me in the slightest......
Yet if I was to ask { in the format of these shows } :
"Which one of these British Kings didn't have a Warship named after them : Alfred , Charles I , Edward VII , George V"
How many of you { other than Denis !  :P  } would know the answer....or would you have to resort to making a SWAG ??

{ Hmmm.......maybe I should have used that in Rob's Quiz topic !!  :lol:  }

I agree Clive, I have a friend who is often asked to do pilots for these types of shows and has been on a few as a contestant too. (but never done a pilot and the full show on the same programme)

He has won on 15 to 1, serenaded (yes literally!) Anne Robinson on the Weakest Link, and beaten a Chaser as well.

He is an avid watcher of TV but mostly soaps and quizes, he would NOT have gotten the Vulcan question right either! (but he's not into "transport" at all, he doesn't drive etc)

It is definately much harder under the lights of the studio than sat at home watching on TV.
