Notice from Trust Executive:

With regard to the Friends Scheme launch, people will no doubt be aware of issues this Spring which ultimately delayed our planning towards this.

We still have matters to resolve in delivering a professional rewards scheme, some of which you have seen in the discussion document with regard to planning the longer term future of XH558, presented within our proposals for Ve3.

You can see a copy of those plans here: http://www.tinyurl.com/futureengineer

We are however aware, that without people like you, we would not have a flying Vulcan at all, so we want to be assured of providing a lasting benefit to you in recognising that support.

On the point about the engine incident having "gone quiet", we would respond that having communicated the basic circumstances of the incident publicly within 24 hours, and submitted the required Mandatory Occurrence report to the CAA, the Trust then started a formal investigation as expected of an organisation with strict safety management policies, under the leadership of a Board member.

This resulted in an Investigation Report containing recommendations that was sent to the Board and the Executive Team. The recommendations have been accepted and implemented, and recently a closure report was sent by the Executive Team to the Board.

A summary of these reports will be published once the Board has responded, taking into account the implications of our "No Blame" policy.

We hope this helps to clarify the situation for you.

Many thanks.

It's a year now since this was announced.  Was due to start in 2012.  Not much time left now.  What with today's announcement of end of flying I wonder if it will even launch before flying ceases...

Whatever happened to this scheme?  Has it been dropped?

I suspect this now may be one for the post-flight legacy period...
