We're giving it a miss this year.

Way too expensive and just not worth the massive efforts put in by everyone.  We'd probably make far more if we all just donated the cost of fuel and b&bs!  We'd be a lot warmer too  ;)

Well that would be my take on it Tim - Without knowing the ins and out relating to the club I would never really have thought it would be worth it from the costs of the pitches.

Whenever I went it was far too crowded to even get near most stalls. I haven't been round for years tho' I do help my sister in her coffee shop just on Burton Road and may have look Friday evening.

Not cost effective although getting the word out to an otherwise uninformed group of punters was probably to some degree worth the numbing cold and aching limbs that we all suffered whilst manning the stand,I for one will not miss it this year but could be persuaded in the future if a certain lady made her presence felt over Lincoln during the festive season  ;)

Got to admit only went to the Lincoln Christmas market once a couple of years ago and it was an absolute nightmare, too busy for my liking. Did get to meet Martin Withers though snd got a book signed so it wasn't all bad...

We made the decision not to go this year based solely on the cost of the stand and the return from last year.

We decided on a year off this year but will look again next year.

If you would have spent money with us please look at the web shop and buy from there.

And spread the word via FB etc.

They've got rid of the one way system this year - there was such an out cry from local traders who who were effectively fenced off last year.

There was supposed to be a multi point entrance system last year but not sure it made any difference. We were also by the biggest noisiest fairground ride last year which drove us all mad!! I don't think it was srictly necessary to have it at all as it often went off with only a few people on it, and it really isn't Victorian (I know..neither are we!!) but a gallopers ride would be so much more appropriate.

There is no doubt it is a very popular event but it will not continue to be so if they don't think about the quality as well as the 'huddled masses'! Maybe its becoming too commercial and less Victorian Christmas.

The best year we had there was 2009.

It's never to best of my knowledge been a Victorian event - granted I haven't been that many times but when I have been  the majority of stall holders have never dressed up or even had a Victorian theme to their stock or stall. I know they have tried in recent years to make it more so by asking stall holders to dress accordingly.

At last Lincoln councillors see sense.
