Vulcan-ised Donation Bucket
« on: February 02, 2014, 04:22:24 PM »
One of our Berkshire group members Norman Bland has modified a standard Vulcan donation bucket to give the "Vulcan Howl" every time money is donated into the bucket. ;D ;D ;D
A demonstration of this can be found at the following link:-

That is brilliant. I've only gone as far as using the 'Cappuccino' stencil to spray a Vulcan planform on one of the buckets at the Jet Age Museum to personalise it for the XM569 gantry.
I'll have to take a photo tomorrow when we have a school booked visit.

Thanks for the comments guys (and thanks to Graeme for posting this while I was at my Great Uncles 93rd Birthday Party!) I have just completed the 2nd of these buckets they might not be loud enough in a "show" environment so I'm planning to add and "external speaker" option to both in due course so the howl can be amplified for air shows and the like.

I'll keep you informed of my progress.....I'm hoping this idea will keep people coming back to "trigger the Vulcan Howl" by way of making a donation (however small, a 1p coin will trigger it just as well as a £2 coin)

Norman

Photo's as promised.
I can understand the principle of how this works but I haven't got the kit to do it for XM569. Any good pointers, diagrams? You don't do ATM's as well do you? HAHAHAHAHAHA   :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

We will need a 100W PA System with a Bass Reflex Cabinet to give our supporters a taste of XH558 at our events when they donate money !!

Graeme.

I have something that might do the trick...but you'd need an extra car to ship it to each show.....its 200W per channel and 20hz-20khz

Looking at the first picture of the stenciled bucket (and the reflection in the logo) I thought you'd cut a hole in the top of the bucket....

The parts to make the bucket "howl" are easily obtained, the tricky part is arranging the "switch" (in my case some tin foil) in the coin opening so that when a coin is dropped it trigers the sound.

I have just aquired enough parts to modify another 5 or so buckets and am refining the design so it can be easily retrofitted to any collecting bucket.

I have an external speaker socket on the bucket (the internal 0.5W speaker is ok but not good enough IMHO) so we can use a bigger speaker or amplifier with the system. I have also modified one bucket so it can be driven off USB (or any 4.5v-5V source really) and the button cells don't last very long. I invisage longer term using AA or AAA batteries.
