old warden 5-7-2015, XH558 plus the poppy drop
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:09:17 AM »
I'll have another go to see if these will go on without needing moderator approval as my original post using Flickr is waiting (seems to be a flickr thing), here are some of mine from yesterday, great display and the small venue made it even more impressive. I'm off to Headcorn next month so hoping that will be equally impressive at a smaller airfield.

and the poppy drop at the end.....

hope you like them C&C welcome

Andy

EDIT must be a flickr cookie or something which the firewall doesn't like as these went on first time, odd!

A shame as they look better via flickr (which is why I swapped to flickR in the first place)

Great pictures Andy, as always, thanks.

Headcorn should be interesting; no road structure and loads of sheep.
I said "no more passwords" and look what happened!

It was an amazing day all round.

Brian (Ben Diesel), thank you SO MUCH for going out of your way to deliver the ticket.

It's the first time I've been to Old Warden, but it certainly won't be the last.

I applaud the organisation for their common sense approach on all matters.

For those that missed, or chose to miss, the warning that it had sold out were allowed in.

The display was superb from start to finish and the entertainment elsewhere was excellent.

The facilities were second to none and the refreshments were pretty darn reasonable price-wise!

I spoke to one of the organisers and, as a newcomer, he surveyed me about my experience.

I brought to his attention the shambolic and expensive service that was the "Shuttle Bus".

The Bus was meant to leave at 11:30am, 10 minutes after the last main train.

It left half-empty at 11:10am before two trains arrived.

The organiser agreed that at £9.50 return the cost was a bit expensive, but he was furious about it leaving so early.

He said he would bring it to the attention of the committee.

It was fortunate that I was able to share a taxi, once we'd found a cab company, with a gentleman and a young family that also missed the Bus. The Taxi cost us £9 between us.

However, overall, it was a small hiccup on what was an otherwise perfect day.
