F35 Vertical Deck Landing

Worth watching - http://www.wimp.com/hovering-fighter-jet/

I'm sure someone will declare this a first and we should have been doing it years ago!

Yes, interesting, it would have been great if we'd had a VSTOL aircraft many years ago. Love the way it hovers, almost like a whatsitsname, that bird that is a kind of hawk. Oh yes, it's called a Harrier.

I haven't heard anything recently about the problems with the F35 but to be fair I don't think there's been an aircraft that didn't have some sort of problems during it's testing period.
Shame the Harriers were scrapped, or rather given to the USA for peanuts, but that's UK government for you, no matter who is in the history of the UK aviation industry is littered with very bad decisions by government whose only experience of flight, apart from a notable few, has been in passenger airliners.

Lets hope the F35B lives up to expectations if we have to use anyway.

Harrier vs F-35 in real combat (where being able to get off the ground in the field matters rather a lot & being able to take a few hits without something critical being damaged matters even more) then I reckon the oldies would win hands down.  Absolutely appalling we ever let the Harriers go - let alone all of them for the price-tag of just one of these pretenders...  (That's my MBE down the toilet!)

Maybe not, there's a lot more goes into choosing the MBE awards than securing this Country's defense.

The Spanish Air Force brought a nice aircraft to RIAT last year...the Matador...I wonder if we can get our hands on some of those!

Even better, maybe we could kickstart the British Aviation Industry and BUILD some of those!
