Thank You
« on: October 11, 2015, 06:10:58 PM »
Just wanted to post something here after what looks like an overwhelming success of a weekend for 558. Thanks to all of you for keeping her in the air, ground crew, aircrew etc.
What a great job you have done and are still doing. :)  You are the best!

xx

Absolutely - several million of us were able to see her this weekend thanks to some excellent planning.  I know some missed her & I feel for them but the overall result was superb.
985 posts on last forum - so I get the \'hallowed 1000\' for just 15 on this one (yippee!)

And me, wonderful to see her over Gloucestershire again, sad it's the last time but thank goodness my grandson saw it. He'll remember that I took him to see that when I'm long gone.
Thank you for the past 8 years, it's been wonderful.

As I was taking the Farewell to Flight booklets around, Lennon my Grandson in tow with the donation bucket, I don't know how many people asked if there really was no chance of her continuing. Explanation and pointing out the future plans ensued but many people were very bitter that the government won't sponsor her like the BBMF.
I did explain that she's not an RAF aircraft and we've done incredibly well for a private venture, and the flying hours achieved, the wing spar mod etc. People just don't understand I'm afraid.

It was sad today, but I "Smiled through the Tears"

Thank you to the Trust, the crews both ground and air, the operations team, the logistics team, the technical companies that have supported her through the restoration and return to flight and the Club for the support they have given over many years.
I've asked Sarah to keep me posted and shout if I'm needed again, even us oldies will rally to the call to arms.

 :)) :)) :))

I was thinking of the Golden Valley bridge across the M5 but then Sarah said they were having a VTTS Club table so I said I'd help out. What a sad but memorable day.

Thank You.

Rutland water car parks were all full, people were arriving hours early. I met a chap who missed 558 yesterday at Windemere and had travelled again today. 558 was low with a couple of turns to show off her Delta. The roads were very busy immediately after the flypast
Positive thinking helps!

Great to see that 558 made so many people very happy to see her this weekend in her Northern and Southern tours.

Well done to all the crew and ground crew for making it happen.

I drove for 2 hours from South London on Sunday and stood alone (apart from the thousands above me on Beacon Hill) following the fantastic tweets to let us know where you were. Truly amazing and a big thanks to the crew for the gentle tilt over Herne Bay to show us the "topside" in the glorious sunshine. XH558 disappeared over Reculver Castle making for the big turn at Margate.

People applauded. There were babes and veterans in deck chairs. An extraordinary moment.

Rumours of a final pass at the end of the month........................I have the car filled.

Thank you so much to everyone, in the air and on the ground, for making it possible to see 558 at Cosford one last time. It's been an absolute joy.
