Stratford-on-Avon Council have published details of modifications to their adopted core strategy document and the upshot for Wellesbourne is:

"Retain and support the enhancement of the established flying functions and aviation related
facilities at Wellesbourne Airfield. "

Hopefully that will ensure the future for the Aviation side, and the companies connected to it.
I said "no more passwords" and look what happened!

Just recently the Littler family stated they would not renew leases and would start demolition of the buildings in the New Year. General opinion is that they hope to force the councils hand by rendering the airfield useless. However this is the latest......

I'm a bit concerned at this bit
Quote
The cabinet also decided to seek powers to compulsorily purchase the airfield if negotiations with the owners fail
A council run private airfield with a massive market and possibly the easiest access cold war bomber in the country
(for the rare few who haven't been, You walk past a Flying School , out onto the Ramp and You're in touching distance of 655)
this would send the money spinners in the council up and send entry fees for market days/fast taxis' up I think ....

just my bit ..

Hopefully enough to secure its future.  If you haven't visited 655, I recommend you do, even if it would mean a significant journey.  On Saturdays (maybe less so in the depths of winter) there are volunteers on site who will take you round including into the crew area, and if you are reaaally lucky well-behaved children may get to sit up front.

You would never get 50 children in the cockpit of a Vulcan - not even if they were very, very small  ;)
I'll never give up on the dream!
