"Apparently", on 15 Dec a 16-ship Harrier formation is to tour key sites in UK (I hope!)

I have some video from Thursday last - when Dunsfold received two Harriers on the exact 50th anniversary of the first ever, untethered Harrier flight at that location.  I will do my very best to edit & then upload it over the coming weeks (sorry it won't be sooner but I honestly have so much work on at present that prioritising the 'extremely urgent' tasks would take half an hour - and still get me nowhere!)

That would definitely have to include Dunsfold if it goes ahead. If you hear anything further through your local contacts, please let us know Eddie.

"Due to the decision to retire the Harrier GR9 early, it is the JFH FCs intent to finish all Harrier flying with a flypast of 16 ac in diamond formation. The plan is to fly the formation at 1000’ on the following route: Wyton, Wittering, Cranwell, Waddington, Scampton, Coningsby and Cottesmore. The date will be the 15th Dec 10 with back up days of 14th and 16th, a weather call being made on Mon 13th. Timings are being aimed at commencing the flypasts at 1330hrs however if weather dictates then the time may flex."
Apparently, the MoD have sanctioned the repainting of a Harrier into a special paint scheme at a cost of £50,000 for ONE day's flying!!!!!

What a suprise.....I was right about them not bothering with St Athan , then !!
Obviously doesn't class as a "Key Site" , even though for many years it was the main Harrier maintenance base.  :evil:

Edited to enquire.....
RAF Wyton -- err , what , exactly , is the link with Harriers ?? Can't recall them ever being based there !!
Ditto RAF Scampton.

Buzzing the Houses of Parliament would be a good option. Accidentally drop a few HE's on them.

I'll probably get arrested now.  :cry:  :roll:  :D

Not sure exactly where { "South Lincolnshire area" } , but apparently there are 8 Harriers from No.IV(R)Sqn currently out & about practicing for the flypast { in 2 flights of 4 }
{ From a posting on the Touchdown-News Newsgroup at 15:32 Hrs. }

Had an email from a friend of mine, who told me about his memory of the Harriers. It is as follows:
I remember as a lad in in 1962 going to RAF Upavon with my father who was in the RAF (stationed at RAF Odiham at the time) to a demonstration of the P1127. It was fantastic and really unbelievable. So it is a shame that the Harriers are going ahead of their time. :cry:
