CENTRAL STORES - OPEN DAYS - THE NEXT ONE IS SATURDAY 8TH APRIL
10am - 4pm
*** News Flash ***
Dr Robert Pleming, Chief Executive of Vulcan to the Sky Trust will be attending
With Easter coming up over the following weekend, we have decided to make this an extra special Open Day.
As we have mentioned previously, on the 8th April, Stratford-upon-Avon Central Stores once again opens its doors to supporters and collectors. We are very pleased to announce that Dr Robert Pleming has agreed to join us during the day. He will be giving a short update on the Survival Appeal and the benefits this has brought to the Trust and its heritage aircraft. Following this, Robert has said that he will be happy to answer any questions. There will be two of these sessions during the day at around 11.30 am and 2.30pm.
So the day comes together in the lead up to Easter as this:
• Update from Dr Robert Pleming, Chief Executive of the Trust
• Easter Egg Challenge for children
• Special sale of Concorde Memorabilia and Framed Prints
• Cockpit and ancillary gauges
• Selected items for the Gardener!
• Special limited edition models
• Merchandise from the Events Unit
As it is almost 48 years ago, yes 48 years, to the day that the first UK built Concorde made its maiden flight from Filton to RAF Fairford, we will have a range of Concorde memorabilia - including a very special Bear!
Increasingly we have been asked for instrumentation at the Open Days so by popular demand we should have some cockpit and ancillary gauges available, these will be limited and we will only put out a few at a time during the day as we appreciate that not everyone can be at the store at 10.00 in the morning.
One of the most popular ranges of items are from Rolls Royce Olympus 202 engines, the gear pieces, like the one shown here make beautiful works of art when displayed together with polished Compressor Blades, Combuster Units, Housing all have proved irresistible. The bad news is that we have only a limited number of these sort of items left from the two May 2012 engines off XH558.
The good news is that in the next few weeks we will commence the sale of items from ancillary components fitted to Rolls Royce Olympus 202 engine No: 620392 which was also used in XH558.
Electrical components have proved very popular and recently we have found a heightened interest in these once we started to photograph them with sides removed, showing the intricate manufacture and where a plain uninspiring item from the outside becomes a real talking point when displayed open to view. The example below is an Airspeed Transmitter which was actually replaced on XH558 during the restoration.
This item will in fact be put on for auction over the next week or so. So look it up on our eBay Shop VulcanParts at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/XH558-Collectables
You may recall that we offered to help you declutter your Aviation Collections, we have had a great response to this initiative, with hundreds of Books and Magazines, Models, Pictures, and other memorabili
SO? DO YOU NEED TO DECLUTTER YOUR COLLECTIONS?
Let us remind you that this is an ideal opportunity to start the early Spring Cleaning by decluttering your home of any surplus books and aviation memorabilia or other items. We recently had a donation of some Aircraft Tyres (sorry not Vulcan !) so we will consider most things. If there are items that you believe we can sell to raise funds, then please bring them along to an Open Day or contact us by email or phone and we may be able to collect.
We can guarantee you that every contribution goes to help further the aims and objectives of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust.
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01789 293555
Prices will range from a few pence to whatever you wish to pay, we will take offers and we will haggle so come prepared for some fun. We do take all major Debit and Credit Cards and cash.
We have plenty of car parking, but we would ask you to be considerate to our neighbours and not block access to other units or the roadway.
